About us

Amigdala Center was established in 2020

with the vision of becoming the leading organizer and provider of education services in psychotherapy propaedeutics in Croatia, and with the mission of promoting the field of psychotherapy and the positive impact of the professional therapeutic relationship on personal growth, satisfaction, and individual health.

In addition to organizing education in psychotherapy propaedeutics, Amigdala Center also organizes numerous smaller education programs and seminars in the field of mental health, as well as individual and group counseling. Over 150 participants have attended various programs within Amigdala Center so far, and Amigdala Center collaborates with more than 30 institutions involved in treatment, education, social and other forms of care, psychosocial support, and assistance, as well as over 30 top experts – university professors, psychotherapists, and psychiatrists.

Psychotherapy Propaedeutics represents education in the fields of psychology, medicine (psychiatry), social work, and rehabilitation sciences. It encompasses a set of knowledge, skills, and practical work necessary for the practice of psychotherapy and is required when a psychotherapy education student does not meet the conditions of the necessary graduate education.

Through interaction with numerous participants and lecturers, the need for digitalization of psychotherapists' work through a platform that would consolidate data and serve as both an organizer and guide through psychotherapeutic work has emerged, for both experienced therapists and psychotherapy students. Therefore, in April 2023, Amigdala Center began the implementation of the "Therapy Companion" project (project reference number: NPOO.C1.1.2.R2- I3.02.0217), which is funded by the Recovery and Resilience Facility under the Call for Proposals "Grants for Newly Established Enterprises." The project lasts 24 months, with a total project value of €176,562.29.

In 2024, Amigdala Center is also launching the Philosophical Counseling program. Philosophical counseling involves dialogical work between a philosophical practitioner and a client to resolve various professional or organizational problems by interpreting and analyzing the problem morally and philosophically. Philosophical counseling is very popular in the USA and Western Europe, and it is particularly suitable for resolving moral dilemmas that are involved in almost all professional and personal problems. The education is intended for all interested individuals with a completed graduate degree in social and humanities disciplines.
